International Chamber Music Summer School

Queen Anne’s School, Caversham 8-15 August 2026

Apply for the course

Applications for ICMSS 2026 are open until 15 February 2026.

We invite applications from players of violin, viola, cello, double bass, flute, clarinet, oboe, bassoon, horn and piano. Because we need to achieve a balance of instruments and skills, we regret that we may not be able to accept all applications. If you are not immediately accepted, you have the option of going on a waiting list.

The fee is £830 for the week which includes accommodation, meals, and tutored sessions throughout the week. There is a supplement for en-suite facilities.

We can also offer non-residential places for a fee of £470. This includes tutored sessions throughout the week as well as lunch and refreshments in the morning and afternoon breaks. Non-residential participants are encouraged to take part in post-dinner activities.

Applications are submitted using a google docs form. Shortly after we receive your application, we will tell you whether you have been accepted on the course, and ask you to pay the deposit of £100.

Some time later, we will give you further information about paying the balance of the course fee with joining instructions, the music schedule and so on.

ICMSS is a charity and not run for profit. The course fees for our Summer Schools are designed to cover the costs of running the courses. However, we recognise that for some people who would otherwise be qualified to participate and would like to do so, their financial circumstances may make that challenging. Through the generosity of past participants, and a generous grant from the Associated Chamber Music Players, we are able to offer a small number of bursaries (in the form of a discount from the normal course fee) for anyone who can demonstrate a need for support. Students currently in higher education can also apply for support. Please contact ICMSS’s Chair of Trustee (info@icmss.co.uk) if you would like to enquire about financial support.
