Anthony Robb is one of the most versatile flautists of his generation, described as an “outstanding individual player” by The Times.
His career has ranged from playing principal flute in all of London’s Symphony and Chamber orchestras, to concerto performances with The Halle, BBC Concert Orchestra, Sinfonia 21, London Virtuosi and the Oxford Philomusica. He gave the world premiere (on modern instruments) of Vivaldi’s recently discovered flute concerto ‘Il Grand Mogul’.
Anthony has recorded and performed with Madonna, Sir Paul McCartney, Katie Melhua, Dave Brubeck, John Dankworth, Oasis, Julie Andrews and Jose Carreras. He can also be heard on the soundtracks to many TV shows and films. He has regularly played principal flute with the highly acclaimed John Wilson Orchestra, a hand-picked ensemble formed from the finest musicians in the country. As a chamber musician, Anthony has worked with Primavera Chamber Ensemble, London Winds, Oxford Philomusica Soloists, the St Magnus Trio, Albion Ensemble and the London Symphony Chamber Ensemble.
Firmly committed to outreach work, Anthony has taken music to schools and hospitals, and is particularly involved with the Wigmore Hall’s ‘Music for Life’ project, an organisation that works with people suffering from dementia.
