Adrian Rowlands started his musical studies at Dartington College of Arts. From there, he won a scholarship to the Royal Academy of Music to study oboe with Gordon Hunt, cor anglais with Christine Pendrill, and period oboes with Anthony Robson.
Since graduating, Adrian has pursued a freelance career as an orchestral, session, and chamber player. He has been invited as guest principal with the Royal Philharmonic Orchestra, City of Birmingham Symphony Orchestra, Royal Liverpool Philharmonic Orchestra, BBC Concert Orchestra, English National Opera Orchestra, English Chamber Orchestra, and City of London Sinfonia, as well as playing with nearly every major symphony and chamber orchestra in the country.
As a teacher, Adrian has tutored at Dartington Summer School, Benslow Music Trust, NLMS, Royal College of Music, as well as private students, and various schools. He is professor of reed making at Guildhall School of Music and Drama.
He plays oboe, oboe d'amore, cor anglais, bass oboe, and has recently become the proud owner of a Hecklephone.
